The Center for Social Commerce was formed in 2012 as a partnership between W2O Group, an integrated communications firm, and Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, a leading academic institution for public relations/communications. The CSC was made possible by W2O Group and its CEO/founder Jim Weiss, a Syracuse alumnus, and is aimed at ensuring students are immersed and educated in social commerce, social media, technology, analytics and the influence they each play on our society and industry, providing them with cutting-edge skills and insight that will enable them to stand out amongst their peers as they enter the workforce.Click here for more information
I am eager to join the innovative and creative team at W2O. As a public relations major, I’ve always enjoyed finding creative solutions to the unique problems that confront organizations. After attending Social Commerce Week events, I became aware of the strategic ways data and analytics are being used to solve contemporary PR issues. Through my coursework as a minor in the iSchool, I have continued learning about the amazing ways technology is not only changing communications, but all industries. My previous experience in sports and political PR helped me build traditional PR skills like writing and storytelling. At W2O, I look forward to pairing these skills with new tools and insights technology has provided us to be successful practitioners in today’s PR world. I’m excited as an Ambassador to have the opportunity to speak with students and practitioners about where our industry is going and how we can all be better prepared for it. I am very excited to join the incredibly innovative team at W2O Group this summer as an Ambassador. I was first exposed to the Center for Social Commerce as a sophomore, and consequently came to learn more about W2O Group. During the Social Commerce Days, the speakers that discussed digital trends and the importance of research left quite a lasting impact on me and changed my understanding of the PR industry. I previously held two public relations internships in the non-profit sector and at a PR agency. My past experiences have taught me how to create engaging and relevant content that resonates with different audiences. My passion to serve as an advocate for an organization has helped me develop strategies that further the organization’s goals. I am excited to apply my skills and passions to my work at W2O Group.Click here for more information
